I need him to see my generosity

Here’s a line off one of my Judge-Your-Neighbor Worksheets. Have you ever thought this would make you happy when someone was misreading your actions?

For me it happened when I was traveling and set up my computer in a place that did not make logical sense to my partner. He thought it was strange for me to do it, and I took his puzzlement as a negative criticism (he thinks I’m stupid). If only he could have seen my generosity! After all, I was setting up my computer in this strange location just to be generous towards my step-dad while we were home.

Have you ever had this kind of need before? Let’s consider it this week, and question it with The Work in the comment section below.

Here’s How It Works

1. Inquiry Circle.
2. You will get an email with the next step of inquiry every day (five days a week).
3. You click on the link in the email to come back here to the blog.
4. You post your answers to the question on the blog.
5. You read and get inspiration from what others have posted.
6. This will continue until we have thoroughly worked the stressful concept. Then we’ll start with a new concept for the next week.
7. Feel free to use an initial or a pseudonym if you prefer to be anonymous.

Here Is This Week’s Schedule

Monday, July 16, 2012: Describe a situation where you had the need, “I need him to see my generosity.” And answer 1. “Is it true?” and 2. “Can you absolutely know it’s true?”
Tuesday, July 17, 2012: How do you react when you believe the thought, “I need him to see my generosity”?
Wednesday, July 18, 2012: Who would you be without that thought, “I need him to see my generosity”?
Thursday, July 19, 2012: First Turnaround: “I need me to see my generosity.”
Friday, July 20, 2012: Second Turnaround: “I need me to see his generosity.”
Monday, July 23, 2012: Third Turnaround: “I don’t need him to see my generosity.”
